History of churrasco.
Brazilian churrasco is more than a meal — it is a ritual of fire, flavour, and generosity.
Long before churrasco became celebrated around the world, it was a way of life on the sweeping grasslands of Southern Brazil. Across the Pampas, the gaúchos — Brazil's legendary horsemen and cattlemen — spent long days riding the open plains.
At day's end, they gathered around wood fires, where carefully selected cuts of beef were seasoned simply with coarse salt and slowly roasted over glowing embers.
Today, churrasco remains one of Brazil's most treasured culinary traditions.
